LEARN MORE ABOUT VERSATILE ATHLETIC'S STORY

Hi, i'm Anthony Rodriguez, my journey in the baseball world has been full of ups and downs. I've met many people along the way as well as witnessing many different results through different approaches. From a young age I had a very live arm from the left side that made me stand out upon my peers and competitors. I've always been self driven and worked very hard on my own in order to become the best. By the age of 17, I was able to throw 92 mph. However my body was not built through strength and proper foundations but rather more explosiveness and fast twitch. My body was just never able to handle the load of my velo so I constantly kept getting injured and having to re-address my mechanics, thinking it was the problem. Little did I know it was from my own body's foundation. I went through college with fluctuating velo and health issues. Always trying to do the newest thing in the marker “5-10 mph within weeks” and sample lifting program. You name it and I tried it all from many different places and “respected coaches”. Where I had failed in my own career was doing a program detailed for me and my inefficiencies, not what the baseball world had trending.

By that time I had coached myself out of my natural and preferred movements. Reading books ranging from strength and conditioning to mobility and body movements,  all trying to find an answer to how my velo had dropped from low to mid 80s in college and high 8s here and there. It was all just so frustrating and didn't make sense. I studied the best throwers around me and those in the MLB and noticed similar trends but they were all different in their approaches. Then my answer hit me, I always had it down for myself, I never needed mechanical changes nor followed other peoples programs, all I needed was a stronger base to support my arm load.

After playing division 1 baseball and attending 4 different schools, studying kinesiology,  looking for my answer, I learned so much from this baseball journey. I decided to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and start helping kids who were just like me, find their individualized approach and what works for them, not just what everyone thinks they should do. As I do this I am also coaching myself full time to throw 95 mph.

Versatile Athletics is a sports performance company for athletes of all ages and skill levels offering remote performance coaching through our mobile/computer app. We are devoted to helping our clients become well-rounded athletes, improving not only their performance, but their overall body movement. Our program encourages strength, power, and athleticism to build on foundation, striving to make our athletes more versatile with multi-dimensional movement for better performance.

The program first starts with a movement assessment where the athlete is evaluated on specific movements that correspond to his/her sport. Taking into consideration athletes training history, profile, injuries, and goals, a program is then built for his/her individual needs for overall performance improvements.

The app demonstrates the monthly plan with videos/details on how to perform the prescribed movements. It’s a two way messaging app that allows for communication between the coach and athlete if any concerns or questions arise regarding the program. A re-evaluation is conducted every three to five months in attempt to track progress and correct any pertaining issues in movement/performance.
